Thailand tech hiring market: August to September 2026

We analysed 2,439 tech job ads posted in Thailand from 11 August to 30 September 2026, and set them against the roles we are recruiting for now. Here is where demand sits, and where our own briefs point.

38 companies placed 45.1% of the tech ads we tracked. That's out of 2,439 tech ads from 685 companies, posted in Thailand from 11 August to 30 September 2026. Each of the 38 advertised 10 or more distinct roles. Software engineering drew the most ads, then digital transformation, then data and analytics.

The ads say software engineering. Our briefs say AI and sales.

Our briefs are the open tech roles we are recruiting for now. In the ads, software engineering leads by a distance. AI was fourth by ads and IT sales seventh. Our open tech roles point the other way. Over half of them (52%) are AI or tech sales.

The two measures answer different questions. Ads show volume: the roles companies advertise. We read our open roles as the places where ads don't work and a company brings in a recruiter. The sections below set the two side by side.

Which tech disciplines have the most demand?

By ads, software engineering.

We cover data hiring in data engineer jobs in Thailand and cyber in cyber security market insights.

Software engineering: about half its ads come from 38 companies

About half (50.8%) of software engineering ads came from the 38 companies with 10 or more distinct roles. 32 software engineering ads were AI roles, such as AI full stack engineer. Count them as AI and AI rises to 10.0% of tech ads.

On our desk, demand for traditional full stack developers has softened. In our experience, a standard developer role often fills from a good ad: traditional development is only 7% of our open tech roles.

We recently had a software engineering search that turned into a bidding war. The candidate had a rare mix: strong English, good customer-facing skills and deep technical ability. Our client went well above budget to secure him. That mix is close to the forward deployed profile in the AI section below.

What this means for you: for a standard developer role, a sharp ad and a fast process will often work. For the rare mix, brief a specialist early and set the budget at the start, not after you lose the first candidate.

Digital transformation: second by ads, roles and companies

Digital transformation came second by ads, distinct roles and companies hiring. The label covers a lot: SAP roles were 39.0% of its ads and business analysts 29.6%. Only 8.5% were digital transformation or transformation-lead titles.

What this means for you: brief by system and skill, not by label. Ask for an SAP FI consultant, not a "digital transformation lead".

AI: fourth by ads, a fifth of our open tech roles

AI was fourth by ads, at 8.7%, with 99 companies hiring. On our desk, AI is a large share of our open tech roles: AI, forward deployed and AI architecture roles make up 21% of them. In our experience, companies need engineers who can build and also sit with customers, and that profile is scarce. We cover the role in forward deployed engineers in Thailand.

What this means for you: test building and customer skills in the same interview loop. Don't hire a builder and hope the rest follows.

Why are tech sales hires so hard to fill?

In our experience, good sellers are hard to find and ads rarely reach them, so companies rely on specialist recruiters for these roles. The ads fit this for sales leaders: only 3 of 177 IT sales ads were for them. Tech sales is 31% of our open tech roles.

What the ads do show is demand spread thin. IT sales drew 177 ads from 120 companies, more companies than advertised AI roles. 73.3% of IT sales employers, not counting flagged agencies, posted one ad.

On our IT sales desk, demand is strong and growing, mostly in SaaS, AI and cyber security. It spans direct sales, presales, channel and country managers hired as individual contributors to open the market.

In our experience, good sellers, people with the relationships to get deals over the line, are few and far between. Many we meet look good on paper but move jobs often. Others we see stay in one environment for years, then struggle to win new business after a move.

What this means for you: hire for a track record of winning new business, not a logo. Check tenure both ways: frequent moves, and long stays in one environment. Ask for the deals they opened from scratch.

Is the data centre boom creating tech jobs yet?

In our experience, not many yet: data centres here are still in the construction phase, with few genuine IT roles. Thailand's Board of Investment received $33 billion of digital sector investment applications in the first half of 2026, mostly for data centres and cloud. Applications are not jobs. 20 of the 29 infrastructure ads we removed as not tech jobs were data centre roles: construction, design, physical security, cooling and power.

Our data centre recruitment piece covers the roles that come next.

What this means for you: if you are planning data centre operations, start senior IT hiring before the build finishes, not at handover.

Where are the tech jobs in Thailand?

Greater Bangkok, by a wide margin.

LocationAdsShare of tech ads
Greater Bangkok2,03883.6%
"Thailand" only, no city given25710.5%
Eastern Economic Corridor (Chonburi, Rayong and nearby)562.3%
Phuket230.9%
Chiang Mai160.7%
Everywhere else492.0%

Bangkok itself had 1,966 ads.

What this means for you: if your role is in Chonburi, Rayong or Chiang Mai, recruit from Bangkok. In our experience, most candidates for these roles are there. Put relocation support in the first conversation, not the offer letter.

Who posts the most tech ads?

Among the 45 companies with the most ads, not counting flagged agencies, regional tech and consumer platforms post the most. This table uses a different cut from the 38 above, though many companies are in both. We typed each company from public descriptions. Together they placed 46.8% of all tech ads.

Names come from public ads and imply no relationship with True Blue.

A big ad count is not always big hiring. BJAK posted 157 ads for 59 roles, the only one of the five biggest posters with more than 1.5 ads per role. Binance posted 118 ads for 117 roles.

What this means for you: you won't out-post BJAK or Binance. Beat them on a sharper role and a faster process. Up against a consultancy for the same engineer? Sell ownership: one product, one team and a say in what gets built.

Is demand broad or concentrated?

Concentrated. Most companies advertised a single distinct tech role.

Distinct tech roles per companyCompaniesShare of companiesShare of ads
142261.6%18.5%

In our experience, the big advertisers have hiring teams and processes built for volume, and many smaller hirers lose on speed.

Companies with long processes or slow decisions lose talent all the time. Being slow to the punch means so many companies miss out. I genuinely think it is holding a lot of companies back.

What this means for you: hiring one role, you are up against teams built for volume. Match them with a written brief, a fixed interview plan and a decision-maker in every round. Our guide to scaling a tech team in Thailand sets out how.

Did the mix change between August and September?

Software engineering, digital transformation and data and analytics were the top three in both months on every view we ran, including LinkedIn-only ads and distinct roles. Don't react to one month of ad counts: August covered only 21 days, and JobsDB joined in mid-September.

What employers should do now

  • Hiring in a contested discipline? Three stages at most. Offers within days, not weeks.
  • Hiring AI or sales? Brief a specialist early. In our experience, these are the roles ads reach least.
  • Hiring one role? Write the brief before the ad, and give a fast yes or no.

See the roles we are recruiting for now on our jobs page, and how we run searches on our employers page.

How we got these numbers

Source. Job ad figures come from True Blue's proprietary in-house system, which collects live job ads from LinkedIn and JobsDB. Most recruitment agency ads are excluded, and an ad posted on both boards counts once. JobsDB ads are included from 15 September 2026. The investment figure is from the Thailand Board of Investment (23 July 2026).

Window. Ads posted from 11 August to 30 September 2026.

Definitions. An ad counts as tech when its job title maps to one of our nine specialisms. We read every title and removed 257 ads, about one in ten, that matched a tech keyword but were not tech jobs, such as hotel security and chemicals sales. A role is one company plus one job title.

Limits. This is a sample of advertised roles, not every tech vacancy in Thailand. Roles filled through recruiters or referrals without an ad don't appear. Our open-role figures are shares of the tech roles open on our desk on 17 October 2026, so one role moves a share by a few points.

Frequently asked questions

How many tech jobs are advertised in Thailand?

In the ads we tracked, 685 companies posted 2,439 tech job ads for up to 2,105 distinct roles between 11 August and 30 September 2026.

Which tech disciplines are most in demand in Thailand?

By ads, software engineering, at 27.5% of tech ads, then digital transformation and data and analytics. Our open tech roles point elsewhere: over half (52%) are AI or tech sales, the roles where ads work least well in our experience.

Which tech sales roles are in demand in Thailand?

Account executive and sales roles were 54.8% of IT sales ads, and presales or sales engineering 43.5%. In our experience, demand for sales leaders and country managers is also strong, but those roles mostly go through specialist recruiters.

Yes. 83.6% of tech ads were in Greater Bangkok. Another 10.5% named only "Thailand", so the real Greater Bangkok share is, if anything, higher.

Which companies post the most tech jobs in Thailand?
